ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

Sondra Miller-Wein, Esq.

A native of Ohio, Sondra Miller-Wein pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan and received her J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. She was admitted to the Pennsylvania and New Jersey bars in 1992 and since that time has been practicing litigation, concentrating on immigration law since 2004.

Prior to founding Immigration Law Options, LLC, she was a staff attorney with HIAS and Council Migration Services of Philadelphia, a non-profit organization providing legal and resettlement services for needy individuals.

She later joined the Law Offices of David E. Piver as Managing Attorney before establishing her diverse immigration practice. Ms. Miller-Wein can provide expertise if you, or a family member, have been detained or scheduled for a hearing before an immigration judge, as well as provide guidance and representation for family or employment- based matters, naturalization, asylum, nonimmigrant visas, consular processing, or motions and appeals before the BIA and other tribunals. She has navigated the waiver process for numerous families and individuals, and has a demonstrated proficiency with marriage-based cases.


Judith Bernstein-Baker, MSW, Esq.—Of Counsel

Before joining Immigration Law Options as Of Counsel, Judith Bernstein-Baker, M.S.W., Esq., was Executive Director of HIAS (Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society) PA, a non-profit agency providing legal, resettlement, social, and support services to immigrants and refugees, for over 18 years.  She specializes in the representation of vulnerable populations such as asylum seekers, juveniles, and victims of interpersonal violence and crime.  Ms. Bernstein-Baker was the founding Director of the Public Service Program at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and was named Honorary Fellow of Penn Law School.  Recent awards include the American Immigration Lawyers Service Award (2017); the inaugural Pennsylvania Bar Pro Bono Award (2015); the Philadelphia Bar Foundation Award (2013); and awards for community service and advocacy from the African Family Health Organization and Pennsylvania Resettlement Program, as well as the Philadelphia Human Relations Commission Award and the Equal Justice Award from Community Legal Services. 

Judith Bernstein-Baker Small
In April, 2017, by resolution, Ms. Bernstein-Baker was recognized by Philadelphia City Council for her efforts on behalf of immigrants and refugees. Ms. Bernstein-Baker teaches immigration law and policy at the Philadelphia Community College and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Temple. She co-authored the text, Understanding Immigration Law and Practice, and is an active member of AILA and the Northwest Philadelphia Immigrant Action and Mobilization (NWPIAM)

Génesis Encarnación Luciano is the Managing Paralegal at Immigration Law Options and a young entrepreneur.  She is fluent in English and Spanish, and of Hispanic ethnicity.  Having completed her Bachelor’s degree from Temple University, she is taking steps to pursue her J.D.  She looks forward to working with you.
